Q: Do you give free estimates?

A: Yes, although I do require a trip charge if you live outside of the Hampton Roads area.

Q: Can you quote a price over the phone?

A: It depends. Sometimes, if you have already taken measurements, I can give you an estimate over the phone. But it is more accurate if I see the job in person.

Q: Do you supply the wallpaper?

A: No, as I am the installer. However, I can recommend reputable companies to order from.

Q: Will I see the seams?

A: It depends on the paper and color. Sometimes darker papers printed on a white background could have a tendency to show a white line. However, most of those white seams can be minimized with touch up, which I will provide at no charge. Not all dark papers show seams, though. Some are printed on a gray background, and those seams are virtually invisible.

Q: Why do some papers ‘panel’?

A: Papers that panel are usually natural products, such as grasscloth and hand-made papers. Paneling is unavoidable with these papers and is considered part of their unique charm.

Q: Why should I hire a professional?

A: As a professional, I’m experienced in the various obstacles that come up while working with paper, drywall, and/ or paint. Only a professional with years of experience will know the proper techniques and tools to use to get the job done right. Your home or business is your greatest investment, so don’t compromise on the quality of the finished product.

Q: Why is wall preparation important?

A: Wall preparation includes smoothing the walls of bumps, cracks, and other visible imperfections and/or applying primer. Having your walls prepped properly is important because it aids in keeping the job looking as good years from now as the day it was installed.

Q: Why is total glue removal necessary when stripping wallpaper?

A: If you plan to re-paper your walls, sometimes the new glue will not adhere properly to the old glue. If you plan to paint your stripped walls, paint won’t adhere to old glue and will begin to crackle.
