Wallpaper was never ‘out’

Where to Buy Wallpaper Online
by Brian Patrick Flynn in Design Trends & Styles, Floor & WallGrowing up, I recall many borderline-offensive kitchens and/or dining rooms covered in cheap, nausea-inducing wallpaper. Perhaps that’s why my generation, kids who went to high school in the mid-1990’s, consider decorating with wallcovering so despicable. Well, it’s time to SNAP OUT OF IT [Cher slaps Nicolas]! There’s only so much one can do with eggshell enamel until the need for texture, sheen and pattern come into play.
For interior designers, wallcovering hasn’t really ever gone out of style. Sure, to the general public, it may have disappeared for 15 years; however, any high-end designer home created in the past decade is certain to have a few rooms sporting a variety of options from grasscloth to toile. If you’re borderline-interested in the possibility of wallpaper for your own home, here’s a few options sure to get your design mojo flowing. Now, as far as wallpaper BORDERS are concerned, let’s just go ahead and completely erase those from history. The world will be a better place.
Graham & Brown www.grahambrown.com
Hands down, the best source for wallpaper online. The UK-based company offers collections from huge designers such as Kelly Hoppen, Amy Butler and Barbara Hulanicki. Sure, their products are amazing; however, their prices will leave your jaw on the floor too.“Fountain” by Amy Butler

If you’re looking for grasscloth, Paper My Walls offers great colors and textures at low to medium price-points. Their greens, browns and tans tend to be the richest and look the most high-end.Asian Splendor in Tan on Black

Wallpaper Collective www.wallpapercollective.com
Wallpaper Collective has an incredible selection of playful, vintage prints ideal for kids’ rooms, midcentury-modern homes and bachelor pads. Price-points are upper-medium to high; the wallpapers are artisanal, ranging from mom-and-pop shops to designer lines including Aimee Wilder and Marimekko. My personal favorites are “Robots” and “Analog Nights,” two wallpapers I’m determined to try in a bachelor pad and kids’ room.Squirrels in Latte

Analog Nights in Fudgsicle
If your girl loves robots as much as your boy does, you’re in luck. Robots comes in two color ways: red and classic.
Jonathan Adler www.jonathanadler.com
If you’re up for high-end retro, Jonathan Adler is the way to go. Overall, Adler has the most colorful and happy selection out there.Bamboo in green

Extreme Makeover – Virginia Beach, VA
February 5, 2011
My daughter, Jackie, and I hung wallpaper in the master bath of the Extreme Makeover house that was constructed in an amazing seven days, start to finish. I can’t post any pictures until after the reveal, which I believe is going to take place later this afternoon. It’s a dreary, rainy day, but I’m sure the sun is shining brightly in Beverly Hill (yes, Beverly Hill) and her family’s hearts!
I would’ve liked to have gone to the "bus driver, move that bus" event, but having gone to bed at 5:25 this morning, I was afraid I’d fall asleep at the wheel going down there. I’ll just have to wait for the airing, which is to take place approximately six weeks from now.

Expanded vinyl hides imperfections in your walls or ceilings
February 3, 2011
Terry S. and her husband, one of the nicest couples I’ve ever met, bought a beautiful, but aging home by the sea.
What one might see as a lot of work, another sees as an adventure in restoration! The homeowner, Terry, did an excellent job painting her kitchen cabinets with a great shade of a light sage green. Notice the distressed look she accomplished on her cabinet doors. She was very pleased with the result of her hard work. What she was not so happy with was her slightly flawed ceiling. She felt that it needed something special. That’s where expanded vinyl and my installation skills came to the rescue! Notice from the pictures how well it hides cracks and imperfections!
Lowe’s still carries this brand of vinyl in stock. It comes in various styles, like the one shown on Terry’s ceiling. It also comes in a patternless faux plaster look. The last time I looked, the price was about $15.00/single roll.

I couldn’t resist posting their cute little dog!
